There are seasons in life where it feels like God is silent, and the road ahead is completely obscured. The prayers feel repetitive, the hope feels distant, and the circumstances seem to be working against you. We call this the “wilderness.”
It is a season that every believer will face at some point. Moses led the Israelites through it for forty years. David hid in caves while running from Saul. Even Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert. But here is the most important truth: The wilderness is not a place of abandonment—it is a place of refinement.
If you are walking through a dry season right now, here is how you can navigate it with unwavering faith and emerge stronger on the other side:
1. Remember That God is Still Leading You
In Deuteronomy 8:2, Moses told the Israelites, “Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart.”
Sometimes, God allows the wilderness not because He wants to punish you, but because He wants to deepen your dependence on Him. The wilderness strips away our reliance on our own strength and forces us to lean entirely on His grace. If you are in a dry place, know this: He is still guiding your steps.
2. Feed on His Word Daily
In the wilderness, the Israelites had no crops to harvest, so God gave them manna from heaven every single morning. It was enough for just one day—they couldn’t store it up. In the same way, when you are in a trial, you can’t rely on the spiritual “highs” of yesterday. You must seek Him daily. Read His Word, praise Him in the morning, and ask the Holy Spirit to fill you fresh every single day.
3. Don’t Walk Alone
This is where the power of community becomes vital. In your wilderness, it is easy to isolate yourself and pull away from the church. But you were never meant to walk this path alone. Proverbs 18:10 reminds us, “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe.” That “tower” often comes in the form of intercessors, small group members, and pastors who will pray with you, stand in the gap, and remind you of God’s promises when your own faith feels weak.
4. Look for the Promise, Not Just the Problem
The wilderness doesn’t last forever. Just as God brought Joshua and Caleb to the Promised Land, He has a destiny waiting for you. The trials you face today are not obstacles to your future—they are the bridges to it. When you go through the fire, you come out refined like gold.
5. Trust God’s Timing
We live in a world of instant gratification, but God works on His own timeline. The waiting is not wasted. He is working behind the scenes, aligning things, and preparing you for the season ahead.
At ALCM Int’l, we believe in walking through the wilderness together.
Just as our sister Anna Hampton discovered, praying with a partner brings supernatural strength and peace.
If you are facing a season of hardship, you do not have to carry it alone. We invite you to reach out to our pastoral team or submit a prayer request today. We are standing with you in faith, interceding on your behalf, and trusting God for your breakthrough.
